A Fanding is an ancient Chinese sacrificial vessel, a variation on the traditional three legged Ding. Originally used for cooking and storage, later Fandings became a symbol of power. The Chinese Bronze Age, from about 2000 BC to 771 BC, most of the bronze work was either for weapons or ritualistic. Generally, with all the bronze, the decorative elements are abstract symbols, symbolic animals or mythological demons.
